Emily Lynn at Twenty

This little girl will forever be our little girl.  She is often mistaken as her sister’s twin, she adores her brother and sister, she is a loyal and generous friend, and an inspiring mother, and forever our baby.

Today our quiet and enchanting youngest child turns twenty.  Hard to believe all of our children are in their twenties now!  (Seems truly that Doug and I were in our twenties but a minute ago.)  I am proud of how this amazing, feisty, fun child has become an amazing, feisty, fun, and elegant young woman.  We are so lucky that we were chosen to be her parents.  That we got to raise this smiley red head.  That she is our baby.  Our life has been so much better because of it.

I have learned so much from this young woman with her wit and strength, her independence and her grace, she is a fine example.  Today I wish my Emily Lynn peace in the chaos of life.  The ability to see past bills, and work, and people, and modern life and see the enchantment and joy of the every day.  To see that everything passes (rather quickly) and to take a moment to breathe in youth, and stars, and flowers, and hiking trails, and that she sees all of her dreams come true.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl.  Dad and I love you soooo much!  I am proud to call you my daughter and friend.

A New Year

I feel the earth beneath my feet

Breathing through cracks in the pavement

breaking the asphalt like a too tight corset

pulsating life

A breathing mother

I stand upon her breast amongst the prairie grasses

and through her gentle rise and fall

I breathe in a new year full of promise and life.

Blessings to you all for a bright, beautiful 2017. Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas from Our Family to Yours

This beautiful season allows us to think on the year past, hope for the year to come, and find time to be grateful for our many blessings as we gather with those we hold dear.  My wish for you all this Christmas season is that you will find inspiration and joy in your heart.  That you will find enchantment in lights, and food, family, and childlike wonder.

Merry Christmas and Wishes

I have been awake before dawn.  A child-like giddiness remains in me.  I will have to wake the children in a moment.  I cannot wait much longer!  Andrew, Shyanne, and Emily do not think that Santa is coming because they are older and there was a silent sadness in them at the thought.  This in essence is our last Christmas in the memory we know.  Santa did come last night.  I cannot wait to see their faces.  Next year a grandchild, and grown children, and Doug and I will have to figure out new customs, but this morning, they are still my small children.

A few Christmas wishes for all of my friends out there; dear readers and friends to meet….

May you find fabulous books and art to inspire you,

That you may learn new things this year to come,

That you will have delicious wines and well seasoned food,

Conversations that sooth the soul,

Friends that you hold dear,

Well behaved family nearby,

Music that makes you sing,

Health in your bodies and in your minds,

To find Spirit in everything,

To be filled with joy and maddening laughter,

To have Hope, Love, and a Flourishing garden.

Merry Christmas one and all.  God bless you!
