Farm Surprises

In my post last week called Barnyard Snapshot I joked that Kat came over and asked which one of the goats was pregnant.  The little black one, Loretta, is quite rotund, shall we say.  My friend, Jill, who gave them to me saw the pictures and decided to come on over and see what was going on.

Swollen backside, utters, bag, big lump on her right side.  It seems that both of them are pregnant.  Now, she’s only been around one buck and sadly that is her father who was not informed of the rules of age and genetics when he decided to create a harem around him.  There will be some risks because she is only about nine months old and she is small.  We will be watching closely to make sure we are here when she freshens and hope there are no issues.  We will also pray for a healthy, beautiful goat as opposed to something otherworldly genetically speaking.  Our farmer optimism will not fail!

We will have doubled the adorable goats running around here and doubled the milk!  This is a good thing!

My dad would have just LOVED you! He’d probably have wanted to visit your farm! Has Aunt Nancy or Aunt Donna been there yet?

It is too bad that I never met your dad. My grandma has been out to see the farm. My grandpa loves the animals. Aunt Donna doesn’t drive this far out so she hasn’t been here but I know she would appreciate my gardens as she has always been my inspiration! You will be here for Janet’s wedding, right? You will have to come see the farm as it is only a few miles from where the wedding will be. 🙂

It’s never boring in the goat world.

How many more days until the anticipated due dates?

End of February, beginning of March….I am only going to be gone far one night out of those two weeks. I imagine that is when they will kid!
